Playtime with the Girls (open post)

Harley has been a little restless the past month or so. While there is still some random jobs she gets from the Nexus, and from her world, it really has not been keeping her busy enough. And she needs a distraction. A distraction from the bad stuff that went down in her life … and just needs to surround herself with good friends. And a party.

So she decides to throw a "Girls Only" night at her Coney Island roller derby. She gets the place set up with decorations, lots of liquor, and lots of food. There is a place for people to get up and sing karaoke in one corner. And a quieter couch area in another corner.

The main focus is on the roller derby rink itself, where Harley is currently skating a few rounds.

She convinced a certain Angel messenger to deliver the invites out to as far as he could, so anyone from the Nexus could drop on by. The only rule of the night... was this was a Girls Night only.

"We are gaining more and more fame each week. It is great. I have people stopping me in Coney Island for autographs more frequently."

"And gotta say... love the fame."

"I remember when we entered the derby and you were immediately swarmed by your fans." It would be a personal nightmare for Adia, but she's happy that Harley is getting so much positive attention. "I hope you're still getting some time to yourself now and then."

"I do love a good crowd of fans. Better than a crowd of gang members trying to kill a gal." And Harley has experienced both.

"I little too much time. Trying not to miss Loki like crazy. And not a lot for me to do. So hence... I decided to throw this little bash."

"Yeah... definitely..."

Adia gives Harley a sympathetic look while they skate around the rink. "I'm sure when he comes back, he'll be all the better for it," she says reassuringly. Trying for a bit of humor, she adds, "But you'll probably have to throw another girl's night. He'll be sorry that he missed out."

"I just wish I could be at his side and helping him. And that sort of makes me wish that I had something to do to keep my mind off things."

"He will definitely get a welcome home party." Harley grins.

"You've been helping his kids, right? I talked to Thor not too long ago and offered to help out by keeping them entertained. What sort of things are they interested in?"

Adia already has a few ideas, but it doesn't hurt to get more information.

"The kids are staying with Thor, mostly. But I have been visiting and helping out when I can." With her lifestyle, it is best that the kids are not with her all the time.

"I usually take them out for fun stuff. Like going to a playground. Or a park."

"They had a tough life, so I try to do normal kid stuff with them."

It's easy to imagine Harley with children at a playground, encouraging them to have fun on the equipment or playing games. She smiles at the image while they skate along.

"Normal kid stuff... I guess some things are universal, huh? I've gotten a little more comfortable babysitting on Atlantis. Most of the kids there have been through something similar."

"I had a tough childhood myself... but nothing compared to what these kids went through. So all I can do is be there to support them."
