Playtime with the Girls (open post)

Harley has been a little restless the past month or so. While there is still some random jobs she gets from the Nexus, and from her world, it really has not been keeping her busy enough. And she needs a distraction. A distraction from the bad stuff that went down in her life … and just needs to surround herself with good friends. And a party.

So she decides to throw a "Girls Only" night at her Coney Island roller derby. She gets the place set up with decorations, lots of liquor, and lots of food. There is a place for people to get up and sing karaoke in one corner. And a quieter couch area in another corner.

The main focus is on the roller derby rink itself, where Harley is currently skating a few rounds.

She convinced a certain Angel messenger to deliver the invites out to as far as he could, so anyone from the Nexus could drop on by. The only rule of the night... was this was a Girls Night only.

Amelia smiles and offers her hand to Harley when the woman sits beside her.

"It requires a lot of strength and poise," she agrees. "I've got one, but I'm lacking the other. Watching you skate around... you made it look effortless. I didn't realize until I was trying to simply stand on my skates that it would require so much of me."

Harley happily holds Amelia's hand.

"Well I do this all the time, so I have the luxury to make it look effortless."

Smile brightening, Amelia tugs herself a little closer to Harley as they catch up.

"When did you learn something like this?" The rogue tilts her head curiously at the other woman. "I've never seen skates before tonight, but the way you move in them makes them seem like a very useful way of getting around places if you were to take them to the streets. Is that something people do?"

"It is a great way to travel on the streets. And really, that is one of the reasons I learned how to skate... to get away from anyone chasing me just a little faster."

Harley laughed. "I mean... I used to skate around and hit Batman or one of the caped crusaders with my bat. So roller derby ain't that different for me."

She laughs as Harley describes traveling around Gotham on her skates. Amelia can imagine Harley skating down alleys and taking down criminals and vigilantes alike with her bat after having seen the woman in action in the past.

"So roller derby is all about skating and pushing your opponents around? Do you win if you knock everyone else on your team out?" She's curious to know what kinds of rules this game could have.
