Playtime with the Girls (open post)
Harley has been a little restless the past month or so. While there is still some random jobs she gets from the Nexus, and from her world, it really has not been keeping her busy enough. And she needs a distraction. A distraction from the bad stuff that went down in her life … and just needs to surround herself with good friends. And a party.
So she decides to throw a "Girls Only" night at her Coney Island roller derby. She gets the place set up with decorations, lots of liquor, and lots of food. There is a place for people to get up and sing karaoke in one corner. And a quieter couch area in another corner.
The main focus is on the roller derby rink itself, where Harley is currently skating a few rounds.
She convinced a certain Angel messenger to deliver the invites out to as far as he could, so anyone from the Nexus could drop on by. The only rule of the night... was this was a Girls Night only.

She tilts her head a little at the mention of the Parthenon. "If you're referring to ancient Greece, my religion's not the same, although it has a lot in common. I met Astaroth, he explained a little bit of how things work for angels." It's kind of a relief to hear Beelzebub re-iterate that angels are different from gods. As powerful as the angels are, they don't make her nearly as anxious.
"Oh, the skate rental booth is right over there. I can wait here for you." She's aware that she'll be even shorter once the angel has her skates on, but unless Beelzebub trips and falls on her, it should be okay. Maybe she'll go ahead and drink that whiskey while she's waiting.

She can't help the curiosity. As an angel adopted by Hesperus it's natural. Beelzebub goes and retrieves skates and comes back, slightly wobbly and very bad at stopping. However, she manages not to careen into Adia on the way back. She needs more to drink if she is going to go out and do this.

She pauses a moment, before adding: "No one has ever seen one of the Lords. Just about everything in the Sacred Scrolls has a more mundane explanation or is assumed to be allegory. But... well, Earth turned out to be real. I've been trying to keep a more open mind."
Adia is not nearly as quick on the reflexes as Beelzebub, and is grateful that the angel doesn't crash into her. Should the angel of drunkenness really be on skates? She takes a sip of whiskey, but doesn't comment. "What were the gods like? Did you ever meet Persephone? Or Artemis?"

The angelic, or at least the fallen angelic, opinion of religion was jaded and cynical for the most part. After she gets a hold of the bar wobbling happens before she's steady again.
"They're all different, as different as humans." She grins, eyes sparkling. "I used to watch Aphrodite and Lucifer push at each. He put her in her place and she's still pissed at him. We got a long well enough with most of them. I spent time with Pan and Ares but I preferred the company of the titans and the heroes." She thought about the goddesses and shook her head. "Those two along with Hestia and a few others didn't associate with male divinities. Artemis was dangerous for a male divinity sometimes.

Once again, Adia wonders why her path has crossed with gods as frequently as it has. She's not a prophet or a priest or even particularly religious. Fortunately (although perhaps not for Beelzebub), the angel's wobbling snaps her out of her uneasy thoughts. "Oh, easy there," she says, automatically holding out an arm while Beelzebub wobbles. Once the angel has regained her balance, Adia sits back down.
It's interesting to hear about deities loosely related to hers, although she's a little disappointed that Beelzebub hasn't met the two she asked after. They aren't her people's gods, but a little insight would have been nice. "Yeah, I guess that's true... you weren't, um..." She bites her lip, unsure how to ask politely. "It didn't count with them that you can also be female?"
no subject
"I've never presented female before." Beelzebub shrugs. "I was masculine even before genders existed and all angels were androgynous. Lucifer would be better to ask. He spent time serving with Athena and is more openly female."

Adia has no idea if Beelzebub is the right angel to ask, but she's lived so long... if she doesn't know, she can probably point Adia in the direction of someone who does.
"No, never?" She asks in surprise. "You're so pretty, though. Uh..." She blushes a little and clears her throat. "Sorry. I just mean that you carry the look well."

"I've had no interest in changing." Beelzebub smiles, she doesn't blush but the smile has the same sort of quality. "I don't mind the complement. Both of us are taken, it's friendly."
no subject
"Oh, I'm not --" Adia cuts herself off with a nervous laugh. Trying to explain that she wasn't hitting on Beelzebub would only be more awkward. Beautiful, strong women do leave her a bit tongue-tied, but in a platonic, admiring sort of way. She polishes off her drink, faster than she would have normally. "Anyway! How about that skating lesson?"

Beelzebub is a little clueless still on romantic social interactions, flirting too sometimes. She's just fine moving on to an activity. "Yes, skating."
no subject
Being a little clueless herself, Adia is more than forgiving of anyone else's missteps. "Okay, so, first thing's first. You should feel comfortable just standing around on your skates." Adia stands up to demonstrate. "You can keep your feet together like this, in a T-stance, or keep your stance wide, knees bent a little. So long as the ground is level, you shouldn't start rolling away or anything."
no subject
Beelzebub listens and has a good handle on standing still. Steering and stopping felt like the problems, but then that was most of skating. Might as well go through with all the training to see where things are going astray.
no subject
Ah, she's a quick learner! Excellent. Adia smiles proudly at the angel, then offers her arm. "Let's get you out onto the rink for stopping and starting, you'll need the space. I can lead you out -- remember to keep your knees bent."

She follows instructions but there's one problem. The instinct of an angel is to use their wings for balance. She's trying her best to be mindful and not slap anyone with her wings as she adjusts to skating.
