Playtime with the Girls (open post)
Harley has been a little restless the past month or so. While there is still some random jobs she gets from the Nexus, and from her world, it really has not been keeping her busy enough. And she needs a distraction. A distraction from the bad stuff that went down in her life … and just needs to surround herself with good friends. And a party.
So she decides to throw a "Girls Only" night at her Coney Island roller derby. She gets the place set up with decorations, lots of liquor, and lots of food. There is a place for people to get up and sing karaoke in one corner. And a quieter couch area in another corner.
The main focus is on the roller derby rink itself, where Harley is currently skating a few rounds.
She convinced a certain Angel messenger to deliver the invites out to as far as he could, so anyone from the Nexus could drop on by. The only rule of the night... was this was a Girls Night only.

"It will take time to be easy." Astaroth comments. "It is a skill we are born with but we have to practice. He takes his animal shapes easily but he's been male since heaven. Changing to female is not easy now but it will be."
"I would like to meet him." Astaroth is growing more curios about mortals as she spends more time in the Nexus. "Surprisingly Lucifer is a extroverted recluse. He loves to socialize but is somewhat of a homebody at this point."
no subject
"I think I'd need a long time," Adia murmurs, half to herself. "Although aside from the physical differences, I still felt like myself. I hope it's like that for him, that made things easier."
Adia's smile turns a shade nervous. "Um... well, if all three of us are ever in the same place, I'll introduce you. He's not really a people person." Although he has been better about making friends lately. He even somehow became friends with Loki, which she wouldn't have predicted. She should really stop worrying about that. "You have such a big family, though. He can be a homebody and still get all the social interaction he wants."
no subject
She smiles reassuringly. "He's devoted and stubborn. He'll make it work and find his comfort with it. He needs time and I think things like this will help him in the long run."
She laughs a little at the comment. "I'm not a people, not human anyway." Astaroth nods. "There are 3 million of us in Chaos, and another 6 million angels in heaven. We have an extravagantly large family and are rarely alone."
no subject
Adia brightens a little at the assessment. "He can always turn to his siblings for help. It seems like a lot of you have it down pat."
"No, you're a people," Adia says rather confidently, giggling at the joke. "At least as it's defined in the Nexus. And wow, that's a lot of angels! But there's only a few of you at the villa, right? Do you do a lot of traveling back and forth?"
no subject
"He could." Adia gets a girlish laugh from the angel. "If he stopped being war. Beelzebub throws himself headlong into things and then looks for a way out. Caution isn't his strong suit."
"Only to an extent. It's hard to align people, which usually means flesh and blood, with being a giant pyre of energy." Astaroth was speaking frankly about their own thoughts on words. It wasn't that she minded being called people, just the perspective was a lot different. "Thirteen or so, depending. Some travel often others don't. Duty and need can dictate how often some come and go."
She pauses and then smiles. "In Chaos, our debates concerning rulership and action are open to all angels. Lucifer has considered bringing the other 30 lords here and having an open forum here in the Nexus. He thinks it would smooth over some of the worry about our power if our government was understood and he displayed his willingness to discuss any concerns."

The description of Beelzebub's attitude paints a kind of funny picture for Adia, of someone fiercely throwing themselves headlong into being a woman. "Well... if he is looking for pointers... men and women really aren't that different, in my opinion."
"Sure, that does stretch the definition for a lot of people," Adia agrees easily. "But not every person in the Nexus is made from flesh-and-bone, either."
When talk turns to politics, Adia shifts a little on her skates. "That's not a bad idea, although if these other 30 lords are also powerful angels, that might make people more nervous... um, not to offer unsolicited advice, but so long as Lucifer makes it clear that he doesn't intend to be king of the Nexus, I think most people won't mind."
no subject
"I would agree, but I'm far more fluid than he is." She glances around. "The Nexus offers the type of acceptance that will help with the transition."
And then there's a full, high laugh. "Lucifer doesn't even want to be our king. He does it because it's necessary and he has the mind for it but he'd much rather live out his eternity creating, reading and bedding lovers than wearing a crown." A little more serious. "That is a concern of ours about the Nexus. No one is sure if there's a creator or other force. Having various gods here is one thing for a supreme being that might inhabit this place. A powerful creator known for glorious rebellion is quite another. We've been looking to see if there is such a being in this universe, a prime creator or entity."
no subject
She smiles at Astaroth's assessment. "Oh, I'm sure. I mean, even I'm kind of glad I had the experience? Even if I never want to come across that cursed mirror again." Or any other cursed mirror, while she's at it.
"A prime creator for the Nexus?" Adia had always assumed that the Nexus sprung up on its own, some sort of strange space-time effect from so many universes bordering one another. But it made sense for someone with so much creative power in his own universe to be concerned about intruding on similar entity. "I don't know... I mean, it's possible, but... I feel like they would have said something by now? Made themselves known? A lot of things have happened here, people attempting to mold the Nexus to their own designs, but I've never heard of a case of divine intervention on that scale."
no subject
"Not the Nexus specifically." She considered her words carefully. "There are stars in the sky, planets, galaxies to be seen. I have reason to believe that this may be a universe that touches others, but we also wonder if other planets we can observe have similar hubs. We could fly to them but with the shifting nature of the sky the risk is too great with limited information."
no subject
Adia listens carefully to the angel's clarification. It reminds her of what they spoke of in the Observatory, and what she was able to see from the telescope's powerful lens. "You don't want to get stuck out there," she murmurs, half to herself, before nodding thoughtfully. "Well, I hope Lucifer can get some answers. It sounds important to him, and it'd be nice to know in general. You'll let me know how it goes?"
no subject
"No, I wouldn't want to get stuck or lost. The concept of wandering lost forever is something that could happen." Astaroth considers quietly. "It's his sense of hospitality and decorum. He knows he'd be angry with another creator just showing up in his space. I think the's looking to prevent that from happening, from being the agitation to another creator."
Astaroth giggles. "I'm sue Lucifer will be in an uproar if he finds one here. He's started to see this places as a sanctuary from having to deal with an equal."
no subject
Adia nods in commiseration. "I always worried a little when I was here and not with my Fleet, that I might get left behind." As for Lucifer's motivations, she smiles hopefully. "I think any creator whose creation borders the Nexus would probably be prepared for meeting a fellow creator. Who knows, he may get along with one so well that they're able to collaborate on something. But I really don't think he has to worry about it in the Nexus."
no subject
Astaroth shrugs. "I think part of his interest is to keep us out of the potential for a war on two fronts. I do think it would be beneficial for Lucifer to have someone of his own level he could trust. "
no subject
"That's fair. There's enough happening here sometimes that it can distract you from your own universe." Which isn't always a bad thing, but having been caught in a war herself, she knows how important it is to stay focused.
no subject
"I think he came here for a distraction the first time." Astaroth can only shake her head. "I think it's made him more focused, war-like and eager to be through with this conflict. "
no subject
"How about yourself?" She asks this softly, a little shy, but genuinely curious about how Astaroth feels about things. "I can't imagine you want to be stuck in conflict, either, but you have the Observatory, too."
