Rogues of a Color Hang Out Together
Harley is feeling a little better since returning back to the Nexus, especially after returning to her world with a couple of friends.
And while her mood is improved, there are still a couple of loose ends that she really wants to take care of.
One of those includes a coffee with Amelia. So Harley texts her quickly, Hey beautiful, free to grab a quick coffee at the Nexus café?
It will be easy for Amelia to find Harley when she shows up, as the blonde woman is wearing a very vibrant vintage-styled dress.

Of course. I'll be there soon.
It's easy for the rogue to pick Harley out of the other Nexus denizens in the cafe, and the bright dress only helps that. She smiles as she walks over and takes a seat at her friend's table, dressed in her usual style of clothes, these a rich forest green and trimmed with silver embroidery.
"It's good to see you, Harley," she says brightly. "Have you ordered something yet? Or can I get you something when I order?"

"A fruit smoothie would be great. And a cinnamon bun."
no subject
"How are you doing today? You look very well." She doesn't expect that Harley's over everything that happened on her world, but it doesn't appear to be weighing on her quite the way it was before. Amelia's grateful to see that much. A beat as she takes a moment to nibble a small piece of her pastry. "Any special occasion for today's coffee adventure?" she asks, curious.
no subject
"I just wanted some one-on-one time with you. I felt there were still things that were left... unanswered."
no subject
"Unanswered?" she repeats, an eyebrow raising in question. "What do you mean by that?"

"I'm not certain where to begin," she says slowly, a frown playing at her lips. "There was everything that happened on the jet and then whatever happened to you and Majima after you disappeared into the jungle when the factory was destroyed..." She takes pauses, taking a sip of coffee to give herself an extra moment to think. There are a lot more things on her mind about that trip than she realized, so she decides to start with something easy. "What happened with you two in the factory that had you out in the jungle?"

Harley reaches out to take the offered hand.
"Neither did I."
no subject
"I'm sorry she did that, but I'm also glad she didn't do more. I might've done something stupid to get you back if she'd tried more than that." Her face turns a bright red. "B-both of you back, I mean. I wouldn't leave either of you behind after we all went there together." Smooth recovery, Amelia, really.
no subject
"Amelia. The big reason I wanted to talk to you is because..." Harley took a breath. "I like you. Really really like you."
no subject
"I expected as much. We're friends, after all, and friends tend to like each other."
Oh Amelia. That's not what she meant at all.

"Romantic feelings for--"
Oh. Oh.
"I-I... I mean you... You do?" She just said that, Amelia. Cue her face and neck turning bright red, and her hand getting very warm in Harley's. This is a turn of events she never saw coming. No one's ever... well, at least they've never really had feelings for her before. This... has to be a mistake, right? Is she dreaming? It must be that.
"...are you sure?" she asks softly, her free hand reaching up to play with the strands of her hairpin. "I-it's all right if you... if you do, that is. But I... I d-don't..." A beat for a deep breath that doesn't really ease her stammering. "I don't know what... that really means. No one's ever felt that way about me before."
no subject
Harley watches the reactions from the other woman. And really hopes that she didn't ruin the friendship by admitting how she felt.
"I don't want you to feel that anything has to happen because of this."
no subject
She's up on her feet in a flash and taking both of Harley's hands in her own. There's barely enough time for her to take a breath before she's moving around the table to move closer to the other woman. A few of the other cafe goers look on in wonder for a moment, then turn back to their own affairs when they realize it's a confession of some sorts. Happens every day, apparently.
"I just..." She pauses to force herself to take a breath this time. "I meant that no one's ever had feelings for me when I had feelings for them, too."
Well that just came out. Her face turns a deeper shade of red, but she smiles at Harley anyway, albeit a little nervously.
"I don't know what this means or what to do with all of this," she admits softly. "I'm not even sure I'm a good friend, but I... I care for you a lot, Harley, more than I do many others. The thought of losing you or you getting hurt makes me so angry and I want to do everything I can to protect you. I know you don't need me to do that, but I want to because I care for you and--"
...yeah, that rambling's going to continue like that for a while if she doesn't cut herself off now, so that's what she's going to do. She looks down at the floor in front of Harley and grips her hands tightly. "I want you to be happy," she manages after a moment, "and I'll do anything I can to help you feel that way."
no subject
She smiles softly when Amelia admits that she has feelings in return.
"First of all... you are a really good friend." Harley reassures Amelia. She frees one of her hands, so she can gently touch Amelia's face.
"And you should know that the thought of losing you or you getting hurt makes me so scared. So we are sorta in the same boat."
Harley lifts Amelia's chin when she looks at the ground. "I am happy. The Nexus makes me happy. And being around you makes you happy."
"I can't rush into anything fast. That hurt me last time... and I have to tell you that I have similar feelings for someone else." Harley wants this all out in the open. So they can deal with it. "But I care about you very much Amelia. And I just want to take things one day at a time."
no subject
That last part bring her back down a little though. She tilts her head a little, confused. "You have feelings for someone else, too? People can do that?" There's no upset in her voice - she's honestly confused, and a little surprised. She quickly realizes how terrible that must have sounded and shakes her head a little. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound harsh. I've simply never heard of something like that before now."
That added confession makes all of this a little complicated, though, and Amelia's uncertain what to do with it. "What does that mean for us, then? If we have feelings for one another, but you also have feelings for someone else... What do we do?"
no subject
"And in my opinion, anyone is allowed to have feelings with anyone else. But it is okay that it surprised you. It sort of surprised me too."
"What would you want to do, Amelia? Like I said, I am fine with just taking things day-by-day and seeing how things turn out. But if this is too much for you..." Harley breathes. "If I am too much for you..."
no subject
This is all so strange to her. No one's ever confessed feelings to her and meant it before. And every time she's fallen in love, she's managed to ruin it on her own. There's a complication now of another set of feelings, but that doesn't mean much when Amelia's never been in this situation. To her, it seems like something that simply needs to be worked out over time.
She gives Harley's hands another squeeze. "If you want me close, then I'll stay close I don't want to lose you, as a friend or something more, because I'm unsure of myself. If you're all right with me being... inexperienced, then I want to stay with you, whatever that may mean."
no subject
"I didn't have... someone like you before. Someone who wants just to do anything to see me happy." Harley leans in.
"And of course I want you close. You are important to me."
no subject
Not that she knows what "everything else" really means at this point. What do people do in relationships anyway? Dating is a whole new topic for the rogue that she's yet to explore on her own.
no subject
"This is for you. Because I don't like seeing you get hurt. And I want to protect you, any way I can."
There is a vial inside the box, that might look familiar to Amelia. However, unlike the one she took in the jungle, this one will have a more permanent affect on Amelia. The microbiology mixture will protect Amelia from any toxins or poisons for the rest of her life.
no subject
"She gave this to you? Willingly? ...what will it do?"
Not that her question is stopping her from popping it open and throwing it back, but she's a curious one. She trusts whatever it is because it came from Harley, but knowing what it will do for her seems like a good idea.
no subject
"And like the one Pam gave you in the jungle, it will protect you from poisons and toxins. But unlike hers... this one will last. For the rest of your life."
no subject
Her smile widens as she leans close and wraps her arms around the other woman in a tight hug. "Thank you. This is an incredible gift and I'm so grateful for it."
no subject
"Like I said, Amelia... I just want you safe."
It had scared Harley to the core when Amelia had been covered with Joker Toxin, especially with the thought that she might be effected by it.
no subject
"I'm safe with you," she murmurs. "I've rarely felt so comfortable or calm as when you're close."
Is that why being like this, here in the open, feels so natural? Surely that must be it.
"I know I don't have to worry, when I'm with you. Nor should you worry when you're with me. I'll always protect you, no matter the cost."
no subject
"I know you will Amelia." Harley smiles. "I respect your abilities and your dedication a whole lot."
no subject
no subject
"Thank you Amelia. For being so understanding. For being so accepting."

"Good. Because I don't want to hurt you. Ever."
no subject
"I trust you won't ever intend to hurt me. It's not who you are and I know that." She smiles at Harley, her cheeks darkening a little as she realize how close they are. Her voice drops to a whisper when she speaks again. "We'll both do what we can to save the other from hurt."

"You make me feel like I don't have to hide things about myself that I keep from the world. And if I can make you feel the same way... I'll be all too happy to be there for you."

"I've never been so willing to be scared in my life as I am now. I've faced so many things that have terrified or hurt me in my life, but this... Dreams, I want this, more than I've wanted almost anything else in the multiverse."

"Are you busy today?" she asks softly. "Or can we enjoy this feeling together while we watch another movie?"
no subject
"So we can do anything you like."
no subject
"A movie," she repeats, shifting a little closer to Harley. "With wine, popcorn, and some chocolates. ...after we finish our treat here, of course."
