Nothing Better than New Years in the Amazon
Harley was finishing her make-up for an invite only New Year's Eve get-together with Pamela and Amelia. She had decided to wear a retro flapper's dress for the occasion. Something that was thin enough that the humid heat of the Amazon wouldn't bother her (and was made of a material that was eco-friendly).
She had finished curling and styling up her hair. And was just putting on some lipstick and eyeshadow while she waited for Amelia to arrive at her place.

Harley is definitely not going to get in the middle of the slight right between Red and Amelia right now. She knows that Red will do what she does when she is mad at Harley -- calm down on her own, and not talk about why she is upset.
Both these woman are so damn good at not talking about their emotions. But no matter how many times they say they need time alone... or want to be left alone... Harley is going to stand by their side. And be that light of friendship for them.
She leans out the window, and looks out to the moss ball. "Do you think if I attach several little of the fruit skewers together I could reach it better?"

"I think that will give you a better chance than trying to climb out onto the tree to get it." She intakes a breath with a hiss as she finds the bullet wound on her side with the chair. Damn, another? Alex is going to be incredibly upset when she hands him the remains of his Art. "You could also try cutting whatever's holding it up in the tree while you're waiting underneath to catch it."

She starts collecting fruit skewers, eating a few of the fruit every now and then as she works.

"Does Red have a first aid kit? I need a few bandages." A beat, and then she adds, "Maybe a few stitches. I can't tell yet until I clean myself a bit."

"I will find something." Pamela returns to the room. She pulls some plants off the shelf. "Here you go."
She hands over some bandages and healing herbs to Pamela.

"Everything all right at the camp?" she asks softly.

"The soil is damaged in a few areas. It will be difficult to regrow anything because of the harm they have already done."
no subject
"Is there anything from the Nexus that could help the soil? I'm certain I could find anything you can think of."
no subject
"No offense to the Nexus... but I doubt there is anything that could duplicate my abilities. It will just take time to reclaim the soil."

The tension neither of them are addressing is stressful, and the rogue isn't certain how to deal with it. She sighs softly and finally offers, "I apologize for any disruption I caused. Ruining our evening is the last thing I wanted for tonight."

"Can you put it behind you?" Pamela asks.
no subject
There's more to it than that, but everything else calls back to her fight with Blaze. That's not what Harley and Red are asking about, and so Amelia won't comment on it. As far as the rogue is concerned, there's nothing more to worry about between herself and the other women in the room, and that's all she needs to know right now.

Everything else can wait. She didn't bring it up, so she doesn't want to talk about it. The itch for more violence is passive beneath bandages and slightly dulled pain, and her anger is momentarily abated. Nothing else matters right now.

"As mentioned, you can settle here anytime."

"Twenty bucks she falls out the window." Pamela says to Amelia.

And then she misjudges her balance and falls out of the window.
Pamela, laughing, decides that she might as well give Harley what she wanted and make sure that Amelia also wins her bet. And with a gesture of her finger, the vine lets go of the moss ball. And after Harley lands, she catches it and holds it up with success.

Now certain Harley is all right, the rogue turns back to Red with a smirk on her face. "I don't know if I truly won or if Harley got help, but let's not worry about exchanging money. We can call it even when I come back to stay for a few days around the start of Spring? You can even put me to work a little around the garden if you like."
no subject
"Oh yes, there is lots to do before spring." Pamela nods.
When Harley places the moss ball on the table, Pamela gestures to the two women to step back. Then she gently touches the moss ball. It opens and releases hundreds of glow butterflies into the room.

As the moss ball opens and the butterflies fill the room, though, all thoughts of violence and frustrating fights fall from her mind. It's a spectacular, magical sight unlike anything she's ever experienced, and her lips tug into a bright smile as she looks around. Carefully, she extends a hand toward one of the butterflies, not reaching for it but still testing the air around it, then holds it out palm up among the softly glowing creatures.
"Worth the wait?" she asks Harley. "They're certainly bright and beautiful enough to fit the description you mentioned earlier."

Harley stares up at the butterflies, raising her hands in the air. One does land on Amelia's extended hand.
"Thank you. I have cared for them for months now."
